Versa Max
Why isnt there a 3 1/4 inch shotgun shell being made?
Anybody who shoots 2 3/4 shells will tell you when duck hunting a 3 inch shell compared to a 2 3/4 inch is a world of difference. So for those people who shoot 3 inch loads and want a bit more range/power the next step is a heavy recoiling 3 1/2 inch shell. Dosent a 3 1/4 inch shell make sense? Why isnt it being made? Or even a little smaller. They could be fired from most 3 1/2 mags except maybe a versa max.
No, an extra quarter of an inch would solve nothing. What needs to be done is for ammo makers to make a lighter loading for their 3.5 inch shells. But that would sort of equal the load of a 3 inch magnum, so they don’t bother.
Believe me, I’ve shot some 3 inch mag turkey loads that were pretty brutal in the recoild department. It just depends on the payload of the shell.
